What stage of redecoration is best for door installation?

Answer: the last stage will be the most suitable when there is a “clean” floor. Modern doors are just like any other furniture. Besides the room will be dry after all “humid” works. There will be no need to adjust floor to the door frame and also no unnecessary gaps. While choosing and ordering the door should be done about 1.5-2 months beforehand as there is the possibility of manufacture of non-standard sizes or any other special elements.

Is it possible to order doors of non-standard sizes?

Answer: Yes it is possible and both in width and height. The biggest possible size of a door block with the box is 2340 mm in height and 970 mm in width. (It corresponds the doorway of 2370x1000 mm).

Are all the doors custom-made and what are the terms of manufacture?

Answer: Generally the factory manufactures 2 main door series. The first one custom-made has its terms of 45-60 days (ELIT, PRESTIGE, MODERN and CLASSIC).

The second “CARLO PORTE” has its terms of 15 days.

What may be necessary for door set?

Answer:

1. door panel (the door itself)
2. doorframe
3. glass
4. accessories: hinges, locks, handles
5. box expanders
6. platband for 2 sides (5 rods) or 1 side (2.5 rods)
7. threshold

What is a box expander for?

Answer: When wall is wider than the doorframe (100 mm) it will cover that part of the wall. Doorframes have the same color as doors themselves.

Is it necessary to install a threshold?

Answer: Thresholds are usually installed in bathrooms to prevent water getting into apartments or in doorways between the rooms with different floor levels. Thresholds should be installed only when they’re absolutely necessary. As they prevent normal air circulation in the bathroom. In all the cases they’re undesirable as creating obstacles while moving and clearing. Wooden and MDF thresholds worn out too quickly and therefore worsen the overall appearance.

For sound isolation it is preferable to use special “hidden threshold” i.e. a construction that cuts into a lower door end and goes down while door closing and so it creates the necessary heat and sound isolation. If the door separates rooms with different floor levels it is also better without a threshold (a wooden one) instead it is recommended to use plastic or aluminum profile to level the difference. There is a huge variety of profiles to solve this problem. In bathrooms tile thresholds will be the best.

What are the storage conditions for doors?

Answer:

• It is preferable to keep doors lying: on the horizontal surface with at least 3 supports
• Doors must not be kept leaning against the wall
• Doors must not be kept in rooms with high humidity (basements or rooms with wet screed and plaster etc).

How is the doorframe fixed?

Answer: It is highly recommended to fix the box with anchor bolts or anchor plates. To hide these anchor bolts they’re located under the hinges, respond lock plank or sealant. Hollows between the wall and doorframe are later filled with construction foam.

What is seal on the doorframe for?

Answer: The seal enables “soft” door closing (without slamming the door). It contributes to better sound isolation and prevents drafts.

How to achieve the qualitative sound isolation for interior doors?

Answer: The quality of sound isolation is influenced by qualitative sealant. If you need a perfect sound isolation, install “hidden threshold” on the lower edge of the door. It will be better if the door doesn’t have glass at all.

Is it possible to install the door in old doorframe?

Answer: It is not preferable and you may do it only if there is no other way. You cannot be sure if the sizes and colors will suit. It is possible that you will have to cut the door, renew the edge and paint it. Besides not only height and width but also door thickness may not coincide. Door “quarters” presence and size may also influence the situation.

Are there doors with additional coating for bathrooms and is that necessary? Is there any difference in using such doors?

Answer: If we talk about bathrooms (and shower rooms) all the door models our factory produces can be used. All the doors originally have humidity-resistance coating only if it is not the room with constant condensate. In the rooms with increased humidity it is necessary to have an exhaust fan (it is installed directly into the vent; it is not expensive and can be found in electrical appliances department). If the bathroom is big and has no constant humidity (no humidity on the walls and cloths), there are no restrictions in choosing the door.

How can the damages on the doors be restored?

Answer: Modern doors the same as other furniture have rather complex coating and therefore the majority of them cannot be restored at home. But small scratches and grazes can be repaid with parquet wax or special markers.

Why is there the tone difference in the color of the items?

Answer: Items of natural wood or items finished with fine wood veneer of course have the features of the wood and this is actually why they are valuable. And their structures and tones are natural. While doors made of artificial veneer, laminate or painted doors will have the same color.

How much time does it take to install a door?

Answer: A team of professionals install about 4-5 doors a day. But it all depends on specific conditions.

Is it obligatory to fix the platband with nails?

Answer: In doors made by our factory platbands can be fixed without nails. It is attached to the doorframe with a special glued joint.

Which certificates do your items have?

Answer: Out doors have all the necessary certificates confirming their high quality.

What are the other ways (mechanisms) of door opening except the classical one?

Answer: You may order sliding doors on overhead rollers without the bottom rail (including wide doorways of up to 3 m in width). You may also purchase “bar” (swaying) loops that ensure back and forward opening. And you may as well order doors with elite accessories i.e. hidden hinges and noiseless magnetic mechanism.

Does the coating change its color (fade or darken) with the laps of time; and if yes what can be done to slow (eliminate) the process?

Answer: The process is slower if less direct sun rays fall on the item. Scattered light has almost no influence. The item darkens primarily because of lignin in its composition rather than changes of the wood dye. The level of the door protection against sun rays determines the rate of darkening.

What are the advantages of veneered doors with re-glued solid wood framework?

Answer: What are the advantages of natural pearls over the artificial ones or natural leather over the synthetic one? In most cases artificial materials are cheaper. But there are people who choose the natural ones. They just like it. So this is the main advantage!
